Why Iran And Saudi Arabia Were Ahead Of Israel In Global Firepower Ranking.

Global Firepower only counts such tangible things such as the number of tanks, planes, ships, GDP, and the like. Both Iran and Saudi Arabia have more of these if you are counting.
What GF is not able to count is all those intangibles that make all the difference. These include a huge technological gap in equipment and systems, as well as command and control superiority, elan and morale, unit cohesion, unit independence of action, intelligence assets, information hoarding and siloing and much more.

For a small illustration: Technological gaps. This is what Iran flies. It’s a generation 4 fighter and dates from the 1970s.
American-made F-4, F-5 and F-14 fighters dating from the 1970s remain the backbone of the Iranian air force.
It’s the latest 5th generation stealth fighter, modified for Israel’s needs and compliments the F-16s and F15s that Israel has available. Israel now has a second squadron of F-35s and, uniquely, has been given permission by the USA to further develop and modify it as it has done to all its F-16s and F-15s. In other words, Israel’s aircraft are basically amongst the very best in their class and that class was already amongst the best in the world.

But global Firepower will merely count up the numbers of antique, or close to antique, aircraft Iran has, and simply compare it to the number of aircraft Israel has. And there is much more of this type of thing.
