West Ham United has officially signed right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United in a deal reportedly valued at £15 million ($19 million). The 26-year-old defender has penned a seven-year contract with the Hammers, marking his return to London after five years at Old Trafford.

Wan-Bissaka, who made 190 appearances for United since his 2019 transfer from Crystal Palace, played a pivotal role in last season’s surprise FA Cup final victory against Manchester City. However, he was not part of Erik ten Hag’s plans for the new season, prompting his move to West Ham.

Reflecting on his transfer, Wan-Bissaka said, “It’s an amazing feeling to be back in London, and I’m excited for what’s coming. I was born here, and London has always been a big part of my life, so returning to play in this city means a lot to me.”

Manchester United is expected to replace Wan-Bissaka with Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui.

Wan-Bissaka becomes West Ham’s eighth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Jean-Clair Todibo, Crysencio Summerville, Luis Guilherme, Niclas Fullkrug, Wes Foderingham, Max Kilman, and Guido Rodriguez.

Expressing his eagerness to join the squad, Wan-Bissaka stated, “I can’t wait to get on the pitch, get to know the players, and push on from there. I see a team that is united, with players who push each other to win and have each other’s backs through thick and thin.”

West Ham’s technical director, Tim Steidten, highlighted Wan-Bissaka’s Premier League experience as a key asset for new manager Julen Lopetegui. Steidten noted, “He’s exactly the type of player we’re looking to attract—someone in the prime years of his career. He’s an incredibly talented defender, superb in one-on-one situations, and versatile. With over 170 Premier League appearances, he knows the division inside out.”
