Unveiling My Potentials: An Odyssey Of Self Discovery And Growth- Obimba Janet Chidera.

My name is Obimba Janet Chidera. I am a very beautiful, fair skinned lady who loves the Lord and is passionate about growth and development in her God-given potentials. Potentials? Yes. Because, I am endowed with quite a good number of them.
I would say I had a good foundation while growing up. First, I am born into a Godly home where God’s standards are our watch word. My parents raised me up the best way they could. Yes, no parent is perfect but my parents certainly did a wonderful job in raising the lady I am today. I am blessed with a father who taught me my worth and how to behave like a queen that I am. My mother, my blessing, taught me how to abase and abound in life. These two, are the most precious gifts given to me by God. I am forever grateful to have them in my life.
Having a positive attitude and a good self esteem is important. But this comes from knowing who you are and what you can do. I started out as a child to discover my talents and gifts. I exhibited them. I had a passion for these areas though I became confused at a point because I didn’t know how on earth I would maximize all these potentials. That led to my confusion on what to study in the university. In a country like Nigeria, where graduates have no hope, I didn’t want to study a course that would be useless in the future. I wanted to study what I love and make something out of it.
“Azu eru ala” was my nickname in primary school because of my exceptional intelligence. I continued this way till secondary school and became the senior prefect from the arts class. It was a norm to study law as an intelligent art student after secondary school. So, my teachers insisted I study Law. But there was something in me that kept refuting it. Long story cut short, I opted for mass communication with the help of God’s direction.
I talked about talents and potentials initially. I love to write and speak. Infact, I have a very beautiful accent. It has been there. I love to appear on the camera. This is just a fragment of those potentials I am talking about. But, I figured out, “why not go and become a professional in this area?” My ArchBishop would always say “Go through the right door”. I decided to go through the right door – the university.
However, I am not satisfied. Oh yes. I love knowledge. So I ask further questions. I look beyond what I am taught. I am a work in progress. Of course, I am not yet a custodian of some knowledge but I definitely would be. I am visionary. I believe in myself. I have a good esteem. I believe I can be all that I want. I just need to be determined and get to work.
If I work and don’t pray, it is a sign that I believe too much in myself. God is not out of the loop. I work but go back to Him who has the capacity to amplify my efforts. I see myself at the top. How about you?

See you at the top
