Travellers Killed in Explosive Attack on Zamfara Road

An unknown number of travellers were killed on Wednesday when their vehicle ran over explosives planted by bandits along the Dansadau-Gusau Road in Zamfara State. According to an anonymous source, the explosives were planted by bandits after community work had been completed on the road. Local residents reported the explosion destroyed a Volkswagen Golf 3 vehicle, killing three people and injuring eight others. This marks the second such attack in the area within a week, with a similar explosion occurring just days earlier. Authorities, including the police and military, have been deployed to the site, though the exact number of casualties remains unconfirmed. The local community has called on the government to take stronger action against the bandits, warning that road travel in the region is becoming increasingly dangerous. The Joint Task Force has confirmed the incident, emphasizing their commitment to tracking down those responsible for the attack.
