A senseless act of violence has sent shockwaves through the Nnamdi Azikiwe University community in Awka, Anambra State, as a beloved figure, known for both his academic excellence and musical talents, was brutally murdered.

Mr. Chima Anolue, a dedicated Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at UNIZIK, as well as a cherished Choirmaster, met a tragic end when their househelp murdered him in cold blood.

The heart-wrenching incident has left the community in a state of disbelief and sorrow.

Chima’s vibrant personality and dedication to both his academic and musical pursuits endeared him to many.

Recalling the incident which led to Chima’s death, an eyewitness, Chinenye Ugwueze, dismissed the earlier report that the deceased slapped the househelp over a misconduct.

“Chima had returned home from his choir practice, unaware that that evening would be his last. As he prepared a meal in his own kitchen, he was suddenly ambushed and brutally assaulted by Ifesinachi E. Omeanu, a member of the household staff.

The motive behind this heinous act remains unclear, as Chima was known for his kindness and respect towards all members of the household, including the staff.

Still grappling with the loss of their dear son, Chima’s mother, Lady Dr. Ifeyinwa Anolue, expressed disbelief at the senseless murder.

Chima Anolue’s passing has left a void which is difficult to fill up. As family, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers gather to mourn his loss, the question of why such a tragedy occurred remains unanswered.
