Traditional Ruler of Alor Kingdom Honored as NUJ Philanthropist of the Decade

On September 24, 2024, the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) visited the palace of HRM Igwe Dr. Chinedu Elibe MacAnthony Okonkwo, Ezedioramma of Alor Kingdom, in Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State. The visit was to congratulate Igwe MacAnthony on being named the NUJ Philanthropist of the Decade and to present him with the official nomination letter.

Igwe MacAnthony’s selection as the 2024 NUJ Phipersonalitiesof the Decade followed a rigorous process involving over a hundred prominent personalities. After thorough assessments, the Igwe of Alor emerged as the most deserving candidate among numerous participants.

In his acceptance speech, Igwe MacAnthony expressed his gratitude to the NUJ for recognizing his efforts. He shared his experiences during the selection process and highlighted some of his philanthropic achievements that earned him this prestigious title.
Mrs. Kasie Aboli, one of the NUJ delegates, emphasized that the NUJ’s selection process is based strictly on merit, not financial influence. She noted that the award is given to individuals who have genuinely made significant contributions to society.

Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, the NUJ chairman of Anambra State Council, assured that the award is a testament to Igwe MacAnthony’s worthiness and commitment to philanthropy. He promised extensive publicity to celebrate the Igwe’s achievements, encouraging him to continue his good work.

The official presentation of the NUJ 2024 Philanthropist of the Decade award to Igwe Chinedu MacAnthony Okonkwo will take place on November 7, 2024, at the Godwin Ezeemo International Press Center, NUJ Secretariat Complex. The event is expected to attract numerous dignitaries from various walks of life.
