Super Falcons Hold 36th Spot in FIFA Rankings Despite Olympic Setback

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have maintained their 36th position in the latest FIFA Women’s World Ranking, despite a disappointing run at the Paris Olympics.
Released on August 16, 2024, the rankings show that the Super Falcons held steady, even after failing to win any of their group-stage matches against Brazil, Spain, and Japan.
Regionally, the Super Falcons continue to be Africa’s top-ranked team, with South Africa’s Banyana Banyana now ranked 50th, followed by Morocco, Zambia, and Ghana. Zambia, despite a challenging Olympic campaign, improved to 62nd place, reflecting the competitiveness of African women’s football on the global stage.
Globally, the United States remains at the top of the rankings after winning gold at the Olympics, while Brazil climbed to eighth, and England advanced to second. Spain, despite their Olympic performance, dropped to third. The next FIFA Women’s World Ranking will be released in December 2024.
