United Stockfish Dealers Association Anambra State (USDAAS) has completed the installation of multimillion naira Closed Circuit Television CCTV cameras and Solar powered electricity searchlights to ensure the security of property and goods in the market.
The association also gave out scholarships to 28 indigent children from various communities in the state as part of their corporate social responsibility to their host community, neighbours and friends.
USDAAS President, Mr Celestine Ezewuru JP while being interviewed by newsmen during the annual general meeting cum End of year party at Obosi, Idemili North stressed the importance of security.
“Stockfish International market Owerri road Obosi is more of a cooperative market. Most of our leaders lived in Europe before coming down to set up a business here that makes our 21st century compliant.

“It cost us millions of naira to install the CCTV cameras for 24 hours surveillance to ensure the safety of both traders and customers from fraudsters, thieves during the day and at night burglars are checked.
“The solar-powered electricity illuminates all nook crannies of the entire market at night. In fact, should nightlife be restored in Onitsha we are ready to do business during the night hours.
“Concerning our scholarship scheme, 28 indigents were selected from Obosi, Okpoko, Ideato, Ezinifite and Akwuukwu communities and we shall keep sponsoring until they graduate and can stand on their feet,” said Ezewuru.

Earlier in his address, Ezewuru appreciated the effort of Chief Polycarp Muoka, Abirikete 1 of Osina for recently facilitating the creation of a polling unit by the Independent National Electoral Commission in the market.
Ezewuru further distributed 50 kg bags to all financial members of the union and additional bags of rice to over 200 traders up to the age of 75years as Christmas gifts for 2021.
Moreover, the Board of Trustees chairman, Mr. Anthony Muoka (Egbeanagbanyanwu) who thanked God for enabling growth in the new market permanent site since 2016 urged the State Government to remember the market while allocating developmental projects.
“We have not enjoyed any Government project. When Government embarked on 10million naira choose your project per market initiative Stockfish market did not get anything. Let the incoming administration remember USDAAS,” said Muoka
