The South East Elders Alliance for Tinubu’27, a non-partisan pressure group advocating for the re-election of Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu as President of Nigeria in the 2027 presidential race, has expressed strong disapproval of the unfavorable actions of a party leader in one of the South Eastern states. The group claims these actions were aimed at undermining their efforts to champion Tinubu’s re-emergence as President.

In a report signed by the group’s National Leader, Engr. Sir Humphrey Nsofor, FNSE, FNICE, the South East Elders Alliance for Tinubu’27 held an inaugural meeting at Nsukka, Enugu State, to induct the Nsukka Zonal Chapter of the group. This meeting was the second in a series, following the first held in Awka, Anambra State, on March 18th, 2025. During the meeting, information emerged that the Honorable Minister of Science and Technology, Chief Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, had invited the group for a meeting at his residence.

Responding to the Minister’s invitation, the group’s leader, Hon. Sir Humphrey Nsofor, along with other national leaders—including Nze Dr. Okolie Amaechi Sadiq, Director of Strategic Communication and Diaspora Matters, and several distinguished professors from across the South East region—assembled as delegates and visited the Minister’s residence in Akpugo, Eze Nkanu West LGA, Enugu State, on Sunday, April 20th, 2025.

According to SEEAT’27, after hours of waiting for the Honorable Minister to return from an official engagement, the group was ultimately neglected and denied access to the Minister. The group alleges that the Enugu State APC Chairman, Hon. Barr. Okechukwu Agballa—who they claim failed to deliver his council ward to their principal, President Tinubu, during the last election—insisted that they visit him first before meeting with the Minister.

SEEAT’27 strongly opposed this demand, asserting that the group is not politically influenced and comprises members from diverse political affiliations. They emphasized that they are under no obligation to visit the APC Chairman before meeting with the Minister, especially considering that many delegates had traveled from various parts of the South East region.

To further underscore their independence, SEEAT’27 highlighted that its membership consists of like-minded elders who, after engaging in discussions with Igbo elites, convened several meetings to address issues of Igbo marginalization in Nigerian politics. These discussions led to the realization that the lack of involvement in national political projects was a significant problem. Consequently, the group resolved to participate actively in politics of national unity, which they believe will benefit all Nigerians.

In a resolute statement, SEEAT’27 declared their intention to resist any individual or group attempting to obstruct their legitimate service to their principal, President Tinubu. While they clarified that they are not opposed to party executives, they vowed to stand firm against any efforts to sabotage Tinubu’s mandate, reaffirming their unwavering commitment to his re-election campaign.
