Queen Ekpereamaka Ibeh, The 7th Ada Anaocha 2024 has written to Prof.Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, Commissioner for Education, Anambra State, canvassing for the introduction of skill acquisition in secondary school curriculum. This is coming just two weeks after she prompted Ndi PGs in Anaocha to initiate sports tournament amongst towns in Anaocha LGA.
The Queen in her letter is of the view that the introduction of skill acquisition in secondary school curriculum will not only reduce scramble for university education, but will eminently promote the ideology of self reliance, entrepreneurship and expertise capable of eradicating poverty.
The Ten Star Queen maintained that skill acquisition will equip students with practical knowledge, training and information they need in their futuristic anablement at early stage, stating that the current reality on ground has shown that theorical education is no longer enough, hence the urgent need for practical education to cushion the downside effect of unemployment and dependence on white- collar jobs.
The Queen cited the government 1 youth, 2 skills programme as innovative and suggested its incorporation in secondary schools, where in her calculation, it will yield astonishing result.
