Seven Injured in Ogun Steel Factory Explosion as Police Investigate

The Ogun State Police Command has begun an investigation into an explosion at Quantum Steel, located along the Sagamu-Ikorodu Road in Ogijo, which left seven workers, including three expatriates, injured.

The blast, reported on Wednesday by company staff member Joseph Adewale, was attributed to machinery failure. The injured workers include four Nigerians—Daniel Bala, 28; Mutiu Olajide, 39; Godwin Solomon, 27; and Maduabuchi Onwe, 27—alongside three expatriates, Ajun Kumar, 37; Chandan Kumar, 50; and Rakash Kumar, 30.

State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, stating that all victims were receiving treatment at Rolayo Hospital in Ikorodu, Lagos, and were responding well.

Police detectives have assessed the scene, gathered evidence, and launched a full investigation to determine the cause of the explosion and enforce industrial safety measures. Authorities have also urged companies to prioritize workplace safety to prevent similar incidents.
