Senator Natasha Faces Senate Disciplinary Panel Over Seat Reallocation Dispute

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, is set to appear before the Senate’s disciplinary panel following her protest over the reassignment of her seat in the chamber.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the decision during Tuesday’s plenary, stating that a motion had been passed referring the matter to the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions.

The controversy arose after Akpoti-Uduaghan’s seat was moved from the minority section to the last row without her consent, a change she strongly opposed. Her resistance to the reassignment was deemed a breach of Senate protocols.

Previously, during a plenary session, she had spoken out against the decision from an unofficial position rather than her designated seat, prompting calls for order.

Akpabio confirmed that the disciplinary committee would investigate the matter and report back to the Senate for further action. The case has been adjourned pending the panel’s findings.
