Sam Mendu Marks 70th birthday, Urges Youths To Be Obedient To God

It was a celebration galore and merriments when friends, relations and well wishers of Chief Samuel Mendu popularly known as Onwa Ogidi converged in his ancestral home, Ogidi Kingdom, Idemili North LGA, Anambra State to celebrate with him on his 70th birthday celebration.
The occasion drew unprecedented dignitaries from far and near which included the Traditional ruler of Ogidi, Igwe pharmacist Uzo Onyido and his Lolo. Various calibers of Chiefs in Ogidi, Umuada Ogidi, Women wing, Traders, Business Moguls, Business associates, Captains of Industries, politicians, government functionaries, various cultural troups and organizations who graced the occasion to pay Chief Mendu homage.

Speaking to newsmen at the event, the Traditional ruler of Ogidi Kingdom, Igwe pharmacist Uzo Onyido described the celebrant as a perfect man and a man for the people, stating that Chief Mendu has no part two and a well known.
” How I knew him is that, he is a man of the people. The whole Youths knows him as their own man. He supposed to be the Igwe of Ogidi. I voted for him but later, things changed that I would be the Igwe. It is God who anoints king. I expected that he would be the one who could be enthroned as Igwe though, man proposes but God disposes” He posited!
The Monarch further affirmed that Chief Mendu is his close friend ” As Igwe Ogidi, Chief Mendu is always at my side and I see him as my mentor. I always seek his opinion. I pray that God will grant him life and sound health so that he could celebrate more years”

Also commented, Chief Ndubuisi Ochiogu noted that the magnanimity nature of Chief Samuel Mendu is unfathomable, stating that Onwa Ogidi is generous and lives a transparent live.
Chief Ochiogu however, described Chief Mendu as a philanthropist and a good man who never pay deaf ears to the yearnings of poor masses.
” Onwa is someone who abandone his own challenges and ensured that other person’s own is solved. He has helped many people in different capacity. So, I pray God to sustain him so that he will continue to assist people and celebrate many more years ahead”
Responding to interview, the celebrant, Chief Samuel Mendu ” Onwa Ogidi” expressed his unreserved gratitude to God for keeping him to attain 70th years.
He said ” I thanked God because he blessed me very well. He gave me 7 children of which all of them are graduates in various discipline. My first daughter has 1st class in food science, my second daughter read Engineering, she major in power, my first son is a graduate of political science, my other daughter who is working with United Airlines, her younger sister is a medical doctor working at Ajokute Specialist Hospital, my last daughter who is working with EEDC read food science, my last son read mechanical Engineering and God also gave me 12 grand children. So, I have every reason to appreciate God” Onwa Ogidi declared !
He affirmed that his long life is not by accident, saying ” The truth is that longevity is in my linages. My father lived over 100 years, his first son lived 90 years, my mother lived 102 years while all her siblings lived over 100 years each”
Chief Mendu who eulogized all and sundry who celebrated with him equally advised youths to emulate elderly ones and be obedient to God so that they would grow with the fear of God and remember their parents like his own children celebrated him.
