SAHCO Dismisses Staff Over Passenger Extortion at Lagos Airport

Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) has terminated the employment of a staff member implicated in passenger extortion and harassment at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. The incident, reported in December 2024, involved Oyewale Oyesiji, a first-time traveler and automobile engineer from Osun State, who alleged he was extorted of ₦100,000 by airport staff in collusion with SAHCO personnel. Following the allegations, SAHCO launched an investigation, confirming the misconduct. The company immediately dismissed the staff member in line with Nigerian labor laws. A source revealed that SAHCO plans to engage with the affected passenger to provide updates and emphasized the company’s commitment to maintaining professional standards and zero tolerance for misconduct. SAHCO’s Head of Corporate Communications, Mrs. Vanessa Uansohia, reiterated the organization’s stance, condemning any unethical behavior. She assured that the incident does not align with SAHCO’s values and that thorough investigations are underway to prevent future occurrences.
