Red Cross donates medical equipment to PHC in Anambra

The Nigerian Red Cross Society, Anambra branch, has donated some medical equipment to Ozalla Primary Health Care (PHC), Isuofia in Aguata Local Government Area of the state.
Mr Fidelis Ikeji, Communications Coordinator of Red Cross in Anambra, disclosed this to newsmen in Awka on Sunday.
Ikeji said items donated included hand gloves, syringes, dispensary trays and other equipment.
He said the gesture was in line with the mandate of the Red Cross Society worldwide which is alleviation of human sufferings anywhere.
He said the donations were to complement efforts of the government toward enhancing capacity of the healthcare centre which was the health facilities closest to the people.
“It is part of the four core programmes of the society which include healthcare, disaster management, promotion of humanitarian principles and values as well as organisational development.
“The Red Cross in Anambra thought it wise to add value by alleviating the sufferings of the people of Isuofia Community through the PHC.
“The Red Cross team was led by the Branch Secretary, Mr Kingsley Okoye, and the Branch Health Coordinator, Mrs Constacia Amagba, amongst other members,” he said.
Ikeji said the items were received by Dr Marcel Ofomata, a member of Igwe in Council, Isuofia Community, who expressed gratitude on behalf of the community.(NAN)
