Pride of Amawbia: Director General SON, Anambra Deputy Speaker Honored In Grand Style

The Amawbia community in Awka South Local Government Area, Anambra State, warmly honored two distinguished sons: Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke, Director General of the Standards Organization of Nigeria, and Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Chukwuma Pius Okoye, Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly.
The April 22 ceremony at Eziokpaligwe Town Square drew a diverse crowd, reflecting broad community support for the honorees.
Nze Chukwukadibia Odumodu, President General (PG), Amawbia Community, highlighted the significance of honoring Dr. Okeke, Director General of the Standards Organization of Nigeria, and Rt. Hon. Okoye, Deputy Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly.
He noted that their love for the town runs deep as can be seen in what they do to keep the flag of Amawbia flying high, emphasizing that they have made significant strides in human capital development and infrastructural growth, impacting our community, state and nation.
Nze Odumodu also mentioned plans to honor other notable individuals for their contributions, praying for the continued success, longevity, and wisdom of the honorees.
The event chairman, Ozonkpu Eddy Nwokoye, highlighted the community’s gratitude for the duo’s achievements and reaffirmed their support. He prayed for continued divine guidance and success for both men, believing their accomplishments would benefit the community and society at large.
He praised Dr. Okeke’s appointment as SON’s DG, expressing confidence in his abilities. The chairman also commended Rt. Hon. Okoye for his selfless service, describing him as a model politician who uses his position to help his constituents.
Ozonkpu Nwokoye praised President Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Dr. Okeke as SON’s DG and commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration for its notable achievements in Anambra State. He encouraged continued support for Governor Soludo to further develop the state.
High Chief Christopher Ndubuisi, Ikenga Umuawulu, expressed gratitude and appreciation on behalf of the Umuawulu people for the honor bestowed upon Hon. Okoye. He acknowledged Hon. Okoye’s positive impact on Amawbia, Umuawulu, and Anambra State as a whole, highlighting his good deeds and contributions.
The honorees, Rt. Hon. Okoye and Dr. Okeke expressed gratitude for the honor bestowed upon them by the Amawbia community. They said that the recognition would motivate them to continue working hard and doing more for the community, emphasizing the honor’s significance in inspiring their future endeavors.
The SON’s DG was represented at the event by his brother, Mr. Onyekachukwu Nwalusi.
Other speakers at the event showered praises on Rt. Hon. Okoye and Dr. Okeke, offering prayers for God’s continued protection, guidance, and grace in their lives and endeavors.
In a vote of thanks, Nze Emma Nwokoye, Planning Committee Chairman, expressed heartfelt gratitude to attendees for participating in the honorary event for Rt. Hon. Okoye and Dr. Okeke. He acknowledged the awardees’ contributions to Ndi Amawbia’s pride and joy, praying for continued grace, wisdom, and elevation, wishing safe travels to all attendees.
