Police Arrest 12 Kidnappers, Recover Weapons in Nationwide Raids

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested 12 suspected kidnappers and three alleged gun-runners in coordinated operations across several states, recovering multiple firearms and ammunition.

Force spokesperson ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said in a Tuesday statement that the arrests followed credible intelligence and collaboration with vigilantes, hunters, and state commands.

In Taraba, four suspects were apprehended while planning a kidnapping, with weapons including AK-47 and AK-49 rifles seized. Five other suspects linked to kidnappings across six states were also captured with additional arms.

In Kaduna, three suspected kidnappers and three gun-runners were arrested between April 17 and 18, with locally fabricated weapons recovered.

All suspects will be charged upon completion of investigations. IGP Kayode Egbetokun reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to public safety.
