Our Lady’s High School Onitsha Old Students Association Marks Re-Union, Annual convention

It was a colourful event and merriment when Our Lady’s High School Onitsha Old Students Association marked maiden Re-union and annual convention.

The event which was held at De-Lumen Suits GRA Onitsha Anambra State was a forum for the old boys of Our Lady’s High School Onitsha who departed from each other over forty years to celebrate together and brainstorm how they would improve the standard of their Alma Mater as well as their welfare.

Speaking to newsmen, the Re-union planning committee secretary, Dr. Mike Ozoemena described the event as a break through, revealing that they have been trying to hold the event but due to disagreement and non compromise debarred it’s success.

He added that hence the Re-union has successfully taken place they could move on for their plans to rebuild and modernize their Alma-Matta, explaining that they should follow it step by step since they have formed formidable force.

The former Director of National Orientation Agency Anambra State urged the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo to rebuild and modernize Our Lady’s High School Onitsha to standard to enable students study in conducive environment, contending that State Government rebuilt CKC and  DMGS  Onisha which he said are in the same category with Our Lady’s High School Onitsha.

He equally advised youths especially students to abstain from taking hard drugs and drugs abuse, positing that its inherent danger is enermous.

Dr. Ozoemena who is also the Senior prefect of 1979 set in his  appreciation speech thanked Mr. Ambrose Ikejiofor who he said had been championing the cause of the Association, Dr. Fred Obodoagha, Capt. T.O.S Orakanmma, Prof. Ben Nwomeh and  Dr. Noble Ogugua who he said were the sponsors of the Re-union and annual convention.

In a special way, he poured encomium to the Principal of Our Lady’s High School Onitsha, Dr. Mrs. Njideka Nwonye and her staff, their former teachers and mentors  for honouring their invitation.

Appreciating the old Students Association, the principal of Our Lady’s High School Onitsha, Dr. Mrs. Njideka Nwonye hinted that the old Students Association have been a major help in the school, recalling that the class of “79” donated twenty five white Board, Makers and Ink for the School as well as presented cash award to teachers and students and honoured her on her victory as the best school administrator in the Senior Secondary School 2021 competitions.

Other members of the old Students Association who commented on the superb nature of the Re-union ceremony includes Chairman of the occasion, Mr.Ambrose Ikejiofor, Former Director of ABS Radio & Television, Chief Victor Mbanefo, Senior prefect of 2022 set, Engr. Smart Nwanana, Senior prefect of 1980 set, Mrs. Okeke Eunice, Dr. Fred Obodoagha and Panela Odogwugbenudu of 1980 set.
