The Osun State Government has urged residents to practice safe sex, especially during Valentine’s Day celebrations, by avoiding unprotected intercourse and prioritizing their health. In a statement signed by the Executive Secretary of the Osun State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS (O-SACA), Olusegun Daramola, the government announced plans to distribute free condoms and lubricants at selected malls and lounges across the state to encourage safe sexual practices. Daramola emphasized that Valentine’s Day serves as an opportunity to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS prevention, stressing that the disease remains a major public health concern. “It is crucial to avoid high-risk behaviors, such as unprotected sex. We also encourage individuals who haven’t been tested to know their HIV status,” he said. He reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration to reducing HIV prevalence in Osun State, urging residents to join efforts to end AIDS by 2030. “To promote safe practices, condoms and lubricants will be available at designated locations. We encourage people to approach our vendors and access these essential resources. Let’s spread love responsibly,” the statement read.
