1. President Buhari Takes Fresh Decision On Relaxation Of COVID-19 Total Lockdown
President Muhammadu Buhari has told Nigerians that the country is not ripe for the total relaxation of lockdown imposed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
To this end, the President has directed the extension of the first phase of the eased lockdown measure by another two weeks.
2. Tribunal Affirms Yahaya Bello As Kogi State Governor
The Kogi state governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Abuja on Monday, affirmed the election victory of Yahaya Bello as the duly elected governor of Kogi State.
The tribunal dismissed the case filed by the Social Democratic Party and its candidate in the 2019 governorship election in the state, Natasha Akpoti.
3. NNPC, CBN To Foot The Bills Of Nigerian Returnees – Onyeama
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, on Monday, noted that Nigerian returnees will no longer pay the cost of quarantine accommodation and feeding upon arrival in Nigeria.
He further stated that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, and Central Bank of Nigeria, have agreed to sponsor the bills of the returnees stranded as a result of Coronavirus pandemic.
4. President Buhari Holds Virtual Meeting With Nigerian Governors
President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, held a meeting with members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum in Abuja via videoconferencing.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the meeting, presided by the president at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, stated with six representatives of the governors online.

Arch. Waziri Bulama has been sworn in as the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretary.

9. 9 Soldiers Wounded, 20 Boko Haram/ISWAP Members Killed As Troops Clash With Terrorists In Borno
The Nigerian Army has reported that its troops killed 20 Boko Haram and Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP), terrorists on Sunday at the North-West of Baga town in Borno State.
According to information made available in a statement to newsmen on Monday in Abuja by the Coordinator of Defence Media Operations, Defence Headquarters, Maj.-Gen. John Enenche, the terrorists were heading to attack villages surrounding Baga when the troops attacked their convoy with overwhelming firepower.
10. COVID-19: EPL Announces Training Resumption
The English Premier League shareholders have finally reached an agreement on allowing clubs to resume training in groups for the completion of the 2019/2020 session.
The development which was disclosed in an official statement by the EPL on Monday, May 18, noted that teams would commence training in small groups from Tuesday, May 19.
