NULGE calls for urgent renovation of buildings affected by thunder storm in Anambra

The State Executive Council of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), led by the State President Comrade Chikweli Adigwe and the State Secretary Comrade Okolo Andrew has paid official visit to Oyi council headquarters Nteje, for the on the spot check to ascertain the level of damages caursed by the thunder Storm that affected almost all the buildings in the council area.
According to the State President of NULGE, Comrade Adigwe, who went round the council with his entourage to ascertain extent of damages, called for an urgent renovation of the affected buildings to avoid further damages by the rainfall.
Comrade Adigwe who described the damages as a big loss to the council urged workers to continue to be dedicated to their duties despite the damages, adding that workers equally need a good working environment and improved welfare packages for optimal performances and improved productivity.
Addressing the Union leaders in her office during the courtesy visit, the Head of Local Government Administration Oyi Local Government, Mrs Edith Enuka, thanked the State President and his entourage for showing concern on the workers welfare, stressing as well that workers welfare remains paramount in the present administration.
She also urged workers not to relent in their service to duty as urgent action will be taken as soon as possible regarding the renovations and reconstruction of the affected buildings.
Contributing, the head of the works department Oyi Local Government Engr. Peter Akwobi noted that the level of damages caused by the storm affected properties worth millions of naira and other vital official documents.
The affected buildings include the Oyi NULGE branch office, Pavelion, the council E liberary office, ASUBEB office, Anambra State Urban development office, office canteen, council fence, Magistrate and Customary courts, education authority , council over head tanks among others.
