NUJ Anambra State Council July 2024 Communique

Communique Issued at the end of the July Congress of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Anambra State Council, held on July 4, 2024, at Godwin Ezeemo International Press Center, (NUJ Anambra State Secretariat) Behind CBN Awka.
The Congress presided over by the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Anambra State Council, Comrade Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu had extensive and intensive deliberations and resolved as follows:
- Congress extended hearty congratulations to Anambra State-born Engr Emeka Ezeh on his recent appointment as the pioneer Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Civil Service Commission by the Federal Government of Nigeria. While pledging to offer useful support to Engr Eze (a famous philanthropist and partner with the NUJ Anambra State Council), the Congress urged him to continue delivering creditably as he is known for.
- Congress called on State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, and other relevant agencies to embark on continuous sensitization of Ndi Anambra and the members of the public on dangers of flooding, while urging parents and guardians to monitor the movement of their wards this time to avoid being washed away by flood. The congress also implored all households to stop reckless dumping of refuse in drainage systems to allow free flow of rain water especially during this period of heavy downpour.
- Congress called on Ndi Anambra and members of the public to always keep their surroundings clean in order to avert the spread of the deadly Cholera outbreak that is ravaging many states in Nigeria presently.
- Congress cautioned the public to henceforth desist from urinating or defecating around the locations of the Solution Pipeborne Water Scheme strategic discharge points, especially the ones around ABS Corporate Headquarters, Awka and Arroma Junction axis.
- Congress commended the Anambra State Government for the lofty initiative of dualising the Amawbia-Ekwuluobia-Uga road which would hopefully decongest vehicular traffic upon completion, even as, congress appealed to the state government to ensure that they give thoughtful considerations to those whose property are located along the areas the ongoing road construction extended to.
- The congress urged the contractors in-charge of the various road projects in the Soludo administration to handle them with the expected human face and deliver on the exact specifications.
- Congress vehemently condemned the rate at which buildings collapse are being recorded in the state recently and called on Anambra State government and Nigeria Society of Engineers to investigate the major causes as well as find solutions to avoid future recurrence of the problem.
- Congress announced the award of four eminent Ndị Anambra as Patrons of NUJ, Anambra State Council after a thorough screening exercise. They are:
a. Iyom Ngozi Chinelo Obikwelu, (Nwanyi-bu-Ife Na Umueri; IyomUgochimelueze,Obeagu, Nri) Nigerian born-British citizen but American trained Nurse
b. High Chief Benjamin Ikwunnebuike Nworji, (Akunne Amanuke) Chairman, Auto Determination, Congo; Chairman ETS BENCO Brazzaville, Congo; and Chairman, Ohanaeze Igwe-in- Council, Brazzaville, Congo.
c. Hon. Ambassador Kingsley Chukwudozie Uyammadu, (Otosi Achalla; Ezenwa Achalla) MD/CEO Kingspat Production LTD
d. Chief Hon. Tabansi Alloysius, (Nwachinaemelu N’Urum) UN-Ambassador, Founder A&D Tabansi Foundation, PG Urum Community, Chairman/CEO of Noble Alchucks Nigeria Ltd, Notec Energy Ltd
- Congress enjoined members, friends , well wishers and family members of the NUJ Patron awardees to join the union on August 1, 2024 by 10am to celebrate them at the Godwin Ezeemo International Press center, NUJ Secretariat Complex Awka behind CBN Awka.
