The sacked Acting President-general of Association of Indegenece of Anambra State (ANIAS), Chief Chigozie Nweke may face imprisonment over his continued parade of himself, amid court order stopping his posture.

The said imprisonment is sequel to pronouncement of the presiding Judge of Awka High Court, Justice N.L. Oyeka in a suit filed by Association of Non-Indigenes Welfare (ANISA & ANIAS) in Anambra State, President-general of ANISA and ANIAS and H.R.H Igwe Amos Nkwuds, Igwe of ANISA & ANIAS and Secretary-general of ANISA & ANIAS against Prince Henry Chigozie Nweke.

In his judgment, Justice Oyeka gave an order of interim injunction restraining the defendant/respondent and his agents, servants, privies and cronies or anyone acting through by or under his authority or directives from giving effects or taking steps to implement his recognition as ANISA before the Anambra State Government or agencies or members of the general public towards misinterpreting or purporting to connote that the defendant is the plaintiffs/applicants’ National President.

Oyeka equally gave an order of interim injunction restraining the defendant/respondent from parading or holding out himself, allowing himself as a parallel leadership, portraying himself, allowing himself to be portrayed, addressing himself, allowing himself as and/or allowing himself to be addressed as the National President of ANIAS before the Anambra State Government or agencies or members of the general public towards misinterpreting or purporting to connote that the defendant is the plaintiffs/applicants’ National President.

He equally ruled that an order of interim injunction restraining the defendant/respondent and his agents, servants, privies and cronies or anyone acting through, by or under his authority or directives from preventing, obstructing, meddling or interfering in any manner or form with the plaintiffs/applicants’ activities and in the performance of their leadership duties or in exercise of their prerogative as leadership of the plaintiffs/applicants’ Association.

Recall that Nweke was sacked as Acting President-general of ANIAS by the Non-indigenes meeting for an alleged lack-lustre performance.

The group, it was gathered, took the decision following the factionalization of ANIAS with Nweke on one side and the “Igwe Ndi Obia na Anambra State” (Traditional Leader of Non-indigenes in Anambra State), Igwe Amos Nkwuda on the other side.
Investigation revealed that Igwe Nkwuda’s grouse was on account of purported expiration of tenure of over two years ago, prompting his petitions against Nweke at the Office of the Assistant Inspector-general of Police where the traders were advised to embrace peace building process which never was since Nweke shunned several invitations.
