Nnewi Community rejects IPOB, tasks police
The Nzukora Nnewi, an umbrella body for all Nnewi people has applauds the security agencies for protecting the town from alleged miscreants who belong to the outlawed IPOB.
This was contained in a statement signed by the organisation signed by the Publicity Secretary, Sir Augustine Ike a copy of which was made available to Authority Daily.
The statement condemned the infiltration of the town by some alleged misguided youths who disguised as IPOB members to wreak havoc in the industrial town noting that Igbo and Nnewi culture upholds the sanctity of human life and preserves same against all odds.
“In Nnewi the shedding of human blood for whatsoever reason is not an option from time immemorial; to underscore this point even the Nigerian troop during the dreaded Biafran awakening crises did not get to Nnewi and no record of single massacre in Nnewi.
“We wish to let the general public note that killing for whatsoever reason; especially, under the umbrella of Biafra agitation is alien to Ndi Nnewi and is totally unacceptable to us.
“Nnewi culture is purely Hellenistic and we believe in dialogue as the most superior tool for any adventure. Thus, we uphold the principle of superior reason and do not condon violence for whatsoever reason under the mother earth and on Anaedo territory.” Nzuko-Ora Nnewi Publicity Secretary added.
The statement charged the security agencies to use all available resources at their disposal to bring the perpetrators of the unprovoked attack/demonstration to book noting that Nnewi community has invested so much energy in training their youths and engaging them meaningfully and that every degree of certitude that the perpetrators of the act are not indigenes of the town.
Nzuko-Ora empathized with the Nigerian Police Force over their lost and the family of those who lost their life as a result of the alleged rascality even prayer was made for the repose of the soul of slain and quick recovery for the injured.
