Nigerian workers beacon of hope for a prosperous future; Chief Sir Paul Chukwuma, APC National Auditor
The APC National Auditor, Chief. Sir. Paul Chukwuma in his goodwill message to celebrate workers day has described Nigerian workers as major pillar and beacon of hope for a prosperous and economically viable Nigeria. Chief Chukwuma in a message he personally signed urged the workers to continue to obey government directives as they go about their job in this period of covid-19 pandemic.
The message further read thus; Fellow Nigerian workers, as we continue to observe the required social distancing and other Covid-19 related preventive measures, one should not lose sight of the relevance and significance of this day.
Today is May 1st. International Workers Day. A day reserved worldwide for the remembrance and celebration of workers. The significance of this day is same globally even as the name may differ as you move from one jurisdiction to the other. In some countries it is known as Worker’s Day, in others, Labour Day or May Day. The common denominator is that it remains a day set aside for all workers. Workers “Holy Day of Obligation”.
Today’s celebration is a celebration of labourers and the entire working classes. May I therefore wish all Nigerian workers a happy celebration.
Today’s celebration is a unique one. As most nigerian workers are kept at home, somewhat against their wish but certainly in their collective best interest, I see light at the end of the tunnel. It is not bad news all the way. No. Today presents a unique and rare opportunity to all nigerian workers. A golden opportunity to innovate and think out of the box. An opportunity to come up with new strategies of putting bread and butter on the table.
I urge all workers to use the opportunity of today’s solitary celebration to reflect deeply on the new reality imposed on us by the menace of this pandemic Covid-19. The advent of Covid-19 with its attendant consequences implies a new world order. As workers, we need to reflect today and beyond on the new ways of doing things in response to our concrete Covid-19 and post Covid-19 reality.
Nigerian workers undoubtedly remains a major pillar and beacon of hope for a prosperous and economically viable Nigeria. As I salute all genuine Comrades in Nigeria today, I pray that God will continue to bless the work of our hands. Happy workers day!.
