NDLEA Secures 95-Year Jail Terms for Four Drug Barons, Forfeits Luxury Vehicles

Four convicted drug traffickers—Ogbuji Christian Ifeanyi, Iloduba Augustine Chinonye, Shuaibu Nuhu Isa (a.k.a Don), and Zidon Zurga—have been sentenced to a combined 95 years in prison by courts in Lagos, Yola, and Adamawa for trafficking cocaine and skunk worth over ₦4.6 billion.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) disclosed this in a statement by its spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, on Friday.

Ogbuji Christian Ifeanyi was arrested at Lagos airport on September 18, 2024, for smuggling 817 wraps of cocaine (19.4kg) from Addis Ababa. Previously convicted for a similar offense in 2023, he received up to 15 years in prison and forfeited monetary exhibits.
Iloduba Augustine Chinonye was arrested at Enugu airport in 2021 for ingesting 58 wraps of cocaine. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison after a three-year trial.
Shuaibu Nuhu Isa (Don) and Zidon Zurga were caught on November 25, 2024, transporting 500.8kg of skunk in a Toyota Hilux and a Prado SUV with fake presidency plates. Both were sentenced to 35 years each or a ₦25 million fine and had their vehicles seized.

NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Rtd.), commended the successful convictions, emphasizing that dismantling drug networks remains a priority.
