Mrs Soludo urges women to use August meeting to address drug abuse amongst youth

Mrs Nonye Soludo, wife of the Governor of Anambra State, has asked women to use the ongoing August Meeting as a platform to discuss ways to end increasing cases of drug abuse among youths as well as domestic violence against children.
The governor’s wife who gave the imploration while hosting women groups at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, asked them to understand that there is a huge task ahead, with reference to the current social insecurities which she insisted must be tackled squarely.

She noted that mothers, as the heart and conscience of the home and society, must wake up and lead the fight, pointing out that the increasing reports of drug use among school children and domestic violence against children, ask serious questions about mothers’ roles in a better society.
Mrs Soludo also asked them to use the annual all-women convergence to find ways to invest in lucrative agriculture, and to also pay attention to what they call food as well as work on their hygiene practices.
She also reassured them that her husband’s development model is a product of careful thoughts and strategic planning, and called for support in the quest for a better Anambra State
Mrs Soludo had been engaged in a weeklong ínteraction with organized women groups from different social, political, pro-government and religious backgrounds.
The women groups included wives of traditional rulers, women presidents general, religious women leaders from Catholic, Anglican and Pentecostal churches.
Others were wives of Anambra State House of Assembly members, wives of the twenty-one Transition Committee Chairmen, commissioners’ wives, APGA women leaders and women support groups.
