From Everest Ezihe, Owerri
Certainly, this may not be the best of time for Senator Rochas Okorocha, the one time Governor of Imo State for 8 years under the administrative auspices of Rescue Mission as Imo State stake holders have mandated Governor Hope Uzodimma to employ every legal means to regain all the state government properties looted during his tenure as revealed in Government white papers submitted by commission of inquiry.
The decision was reached last Saturday during the 4th special stakeholders meeting held at the State Secretariat of the traditional rulers council, Mbari Street, Owerri surmoned by Governor Uzodimma and was presided over by Chief Ikedi Ohakim, one time Governor of the state.
According to them “we the stakeholders from Imo State from the 305, wards in the state, after a meeting in Owerri on Saturday February 21st do hereby resolve to mandate the state government to recover every property, money or wealth stolen from Imo people by any person, no matter how highly placed”.
Governor Uzodimma who used the occasion to reel out litany of achievements of his Shared Prosperity
and 3 R mantra government, however lamented on the socioeconomic strangulation of the state by the Covid- 19 pandemic.
He assured them that his administration is on course and very soon the people will began to appreciate the sacrifices of his administration for greater glory.
The Governor pointed out that he’s been attacked by Senator Hope Uzodimma and his aides because he frustrated his efforts in instituting feudal and aristocrat government in Imo State.
According to him”there will be a wholistic probe of 8 year Rescue Mission administration of Owelle Rochas Okorocha. The panel of inquiries against Okorocha’s administration was instituted by His Excellency Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha and i inherited their gazetted reports and am under oath to implement the recommendations of the white papers because no body is above the law and power belongs to the people” he insisted.
Uzodimma reported how Okorocha wanted to use him to kill the reports of the Panel of Inquiries against his administration alleging that the patrimony of Imo people was allegedly looted by Okorocha, his family, siblings and close associates prompting the actions of the former Governor of the state trying to torpedo the recommendations of the Commission of Inquiries.
The Governor said it point blank that”all those who are in possession of the state properties, to surrender them now. Those who distorted Owerri Master plans for percurinary interest must pay dearly for it. Am on a mission to recover all Imo state looted properties and wealth, no matter whose ox is gored” he assured.
