Traders in Anambra State have hailed Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s decision to unbundle the Ministry of Trade, Commerce and Industry in the state. Ikengaonline reports.
The Governor approved the unbundling and renaming of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry at the state executive council meeting penultimate Monday.
Speaking to newsmen recently, some market leaders hailed the Governor for taking over the Ministry from Dr. Obinna Ngonadi, who acted as the Commissioner before the unbundling.
Chief Ndubuisi Ochiogu, a market leader whose reign was terminated by the Commissioner said Soludo has demonstrated that his ears are on ground by his takeover of the Ministry “and removing anything that has to do with Trade and Commerce from the hands of Dr. Obinna Ngonadi.”
Recall that Ochiogu had instituted a case at Ogbaru High Court against his removal by the Ministry as the elected Chairman of Ogbaru Main Market without the completion of his tenure.
Speaking through his counsel, Chief Ben Uzegbu, he said that he has filed a notice of discontinuance of the case because of the Governor’s action of addressing the numerous troubles created in Anambra Markets by the Commissioner.
On his part, Chief Ikechukwu Ekwegbalu, the President General of Anambra State Markets Amalgamated Traders (ASMATAS), an umbrella body of all the Markets in Anambra State praised Governor Soludo for doing the needful to nip the crisis in Anambra markets in the bud.
He said he has instructed all those that instituted Court cases against the Government to withdraw them because “they have nothing against the Governor but the Commissioner.” He however pledged the continuous support and loyalty of Anambra traders to Governor Soludo’s administration.
