Man Kills Brother Over N200 Meat in Adamawa

A tragic altercation over a N200 piece of meat has led to the death of a man in Adamawa State, after he was stabbed by his younger brother.

The victim, Friday Murya, was fatally stabbed by his butcher brother, Monday Murya, following a heated argument over the unpaid meat.

During the scuffle, Monday also stabbed another elder brother, Sinairu Murya, who tried to intervene. Sinairu is currently receiving treatment at Dumne Cottage Hospital in Song LGA.

The incident occurred on Sunday, March 9, 2025, in Waltadi community, Dunme, after Friday took the meat without payment, sparking a dispute that quickly escalated.

Eyewitnesses say Monday, angered by the situation, demanded payment, but when Friday resisted, a fight broke out, leading to the fatal stabbing.

Friday was rushed to Modibbo Adama Teaching Hospital, Yola, where he later died.

As of Tuesday morning, the Adamawa State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement, with Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, stating he had not been briefed on the incident.
