Land grabbing: Governor Obiano Vows To Recover School Lands

Anambra state governor, Willie Obiano has warned that his administration is committed to recovering all school lands anywhere in the state.
Governor Obiano issued the warning to land grabbers while receiving the report raised by a panel to look into complains of encroachment on the school land, stressing that he will implement the contents of the report to the letter, adding that the implementation is just the beginning.
The Isuanaocha Community School Land Encroachment Panel concluded its findings and submitted report to Governor Willie Obiano.
Governor Obiano recieved the report at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia from members of the Panel . The panel which has the Traditional Ruler of Nteje, Igwe Rowland Odegbo as its Chairman, was inaugurated by the Governor on the 5th March, 2020 to look into complains of encroachment on the school land and make recommendations.
Other members of the panel were Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Primus Odili, Commissioner for Lands, Physical Planning and Urban Renewal, Mr Bonaventure Enemali and the Acting Surveyor General of the state.
Making their recommendations known in a seven point presentation, Igwe Odegbo said that apart from their visit to the school and meeting with the Principal of the school, they had five sittings before arriving at their recommendations.
The recommendations include total recovery of the land by state government, to serve as deterrent to others, greater supervision of the Post Primary School Service Commission and Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, submission of quarterly reports by PPSSC and ASUBEB, immediate survey of all government schools, among others.
