Kwara Expands Free TB Treatment, X-Rays for Children

The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating tuberculosis by extending free diagnostic services and treatment, including free chest X-rays and specialized TB tests for children.

Speaking at the 2025 World Tuberculosis Day event in Ilorin, First Lady Prof. Olufolake AbdulRazaq, represented by Alhaji Abdulganiyu Opeloyeru, urged residents to report suspected TB cases for early treatment. She emphasized the need for community participation under the theme “Yes! We Can End TB: Commit, Invest, Deliver.”

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina El-Imam, represented by Pharmacist Barakat Olanrewaju, highlighted plans to expand TB treatment centers across the state, ensuring free access to care. She also noted Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s approval of free health insurance for TB patients and their families.

Key stakeholders, including state lawmakers and community leaders, attended the event, reaffirming support for the government’s TB intervention efforts.
