Kamala Harris Agrees to Two Debates with Donald Trump

Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign has announced her agreement to participate in two presidential debates with Republican rival Donald Trump, while their running mates will engage in one vice-presidential debate. This decision aims to settle weeks of negotiations over the debate schedule.

The campaign confirmed that the first presidential debate will take place on September 10, followed by a vice-presidential debate between Tim Walz and J.D. Vance on October 1. A second Trump-Harris debate is planned for later in October.

“The debate about debates is over,” the Harris campaign stated, adding that this arrangement assumes Trump “actually shows up on September 10.”

This development comes as Harris, who replaced President Biden as the Democratic nominee, seeks to establish herself quickly in a shortened campaign period. Her historic candidacy as potentially the first woman president has already shown promising signs, with improved polling numbers and strong fundraising.

The debate schedule takes on added significance as early voting begins in several states before the first vice-presidential debate. The Trump campaign has not yet responded to this announcement.

As both camps prepare for these crucial face-offs, the debates are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping voter perceptions ahead of the November 5 election.
