Iwa ji Omor Anaukwu 2024: Monarch lauds Soludo on Infrastructural, agro revolution, seeks redress in Ayamelum’s poor road conditions

The traditional Ruler of Omor in Ayamelum Local Governnment Area of Anambra State, His Royal Highness, Igwe Chris Oranu Chidume has lauded Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo for his Infrastructural and agricultural revolution across the state including his Ayamelum Area.

Speaking on the occasion of Iwaji Omor Festival held at his Eze Igulube Palace in Omor held on Saturday, August 25, 2024, the monarch, he emphasized that returning to agriculture will bring about positive change across the in the local governments of the State and impact meaningfully on the nation’s economy.

Igwe Chidume, who is an industrial magnate also called on the good people of Anambra State to embrace the ongoing agricultural revolution launched by Governor Prof. Charles Soludo as a viable solution to hunger, poverty, unemployment, diseases, malnutrition, and other factors hindering the State’s growth and development.

His words read in part: “Returning to farming will reduce unemployment and drastically lower poverty and insecurity in the land. So, I call on the youth to embrace agriculture so that we can feed our people, our state, and, collectively, feed the nation.”

He, however, appealed to Anambra State Government to address the poor conditions of the roads leading to agricultural belts of Ayamelum Local Governnment Area, which he observed urgently requires intervention.

The Igwe further added that having good access roads would be a major boost to the predominantly farming communities of Ayamelum, who often face difficulties in transporting their farm produce to major cities in the State.

While appreciating God for this year’s bountiful harvest and continuous blessings upon the people, he said God’s love manifests in His blessings of people with rain and good harvest this year.

He also commended his subjects for their commitment and dedication to agricultural production in the geo-political bloc of Omabala in particular and the State in general.

The epic event attracted several distinguished personalities, including the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somto Udeze, and his entourage; Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), Chido Obidiegwu; Chief Paul Chukwuma (Onwa Umueri); Acting Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha

The others were
the Traditional Ruler of Aguleri, HRM Igwe Mike Idigo (Eze Udo Aguleri) and the Traditional Ruler of Umueri, HRH Igwe Ben Izuchukwu Emeka (Igwe Okebo II Umueri).

The high points of the event included a special prayer, the slicing of yam for the proper Iwa Ji (Cutting of Yam) Festival, cultural dances and h masquerades displays.
