Imo Govt ends sensitization of Northern women in Okigwe

As part of the activities to ensure harmonious relationship between the Hausa/ Fulani people and their host communities,Imo State Government has rounded off the senatorial sensitization tour of Northern women living in the State in Okigwe Local Government Council.
The programme which highlighted the activities and policies of the state government, held in three zones of the State and had majorly in attendance, northern women living in the State.
At the grand finale yesterday at Nomadic Primary School, Garki, Okigwe, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Gender, Vulnerable Groups and Northern Women Affairs, Hajia Hamza Fatima said the governor has shown so much love to Northerners in the State and urged them to live peacefully with one another and be happy with the host community as a payback for the governor’s kind gestures.
She called for support to the state government pointing out that “With this appointment given to our people, we will work together to achieve positive results.
“I call on all of you to support this government that has brought smiles on our faces”, Hajia Hamza said, while assuring that the government will not hesitate to address all their challenges.
In his contribution the SSA to the Governor on Artisans and Technicians, Mr Johndonald Ikegwuruka urged them to join hands to build the state of collective dreams and aspirations.
He admonished them to channel their complaints through Hajia Hamza, adding that, “it is time to recover all the things women have lost in the past.”
Ikegwuruka further gave them lectures on how to build their homes, live a good life and ensure a better society.
Leader of Hausa Community in Okigwe, Alhaji Yahaya Biu said, “for over 30 years, we have never had an appointed SSA to look after our women. This is a very great opportunity for our women and I want them to make good use of it.”
Biu thanked Governor Uzodimma for running an all inclusive governance and assured of their support.
Earlier, the Amira and Woman Leader Okigwe zone, Hajia Munira Ibrahim Emeh also expressed gratitude to the state government for carrying them along and offered herself for any task to ensure a better Imo.
She said they lacked teachers in their schools and electricity and solicited for the state government assistance.
Eme also solicited for support for their women in business and training for the unskilled ones.
