IGP Egbetokun Summons Kaduna MOPOL Team Over Viral Video Collecting Cash from Chinese Nationals

Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has summoned DSP Aliyu Adejembi and his MOPOL 1 team from Kaduna for questioning after a viral video showed them receiving cash handouts from Chinese nationals while on special duty in Lagos.

The video, which sparked public outrage, shows the officers queuing up to collect money. A police signal dated April 15, 2025, confirmed the IGP’s directive for the officers to report to Force Headquarters on Wednesday, April 16, by 9:00 a.m., describing the incident as “professional and discreditable misconduct.”
