IDEMILI COUNCIL, OGIDI YOUTHS UNION JOINTLY BESTOW UNION’S PRESTIGIOUS AWARD OF GRAND PATRON ON OGIDI MONARCH

Idemili North Local Governments youths union together with Ogidi town youths last Nwafor Festival of Ogidi town a cultural Festival Celebration yearly in the community to thank God for fruitful harvest held yesterday has bestowed a prestigious award of excellence “Grand Patron of youths on the traditional ruler of Ogidi Community HRM Igwe Pharmacist Alex Onyido “Ezechumagha of Ogidi for his unrelenting intervention in welfare of youths in Ogidi community, Idemili LGA, Anambra State as well as Nigeria in general. Noting that the monarch has made a remarkable impression on the lives of many youths through the creation of employment ents, and empowerment, both morally and inspirationally.

Receiving the award from the two union’s leaders namely Comrade Chudi Chukelu, Youth leader Umuoji Town and Mayor of all youths in Idemili North LGA, Comrade Ken Okoli PG ASATU Youths Anambra State, Hon Chris Obi Okafor, President General Ogidi Youths, HRM Onyido while thanking the youths for honouring him commended them for a peaceful and free crisis event unlike the previous ones which was always characterized by one crises or the other and promised them that if they continue to excel that in the next year edition of the event that he is going to support them both morally and financially adding that he is impressed by the peace that prevail throughout the occasion.

Speaking on the current hardship being witnessed by many families in the country, especially among the youths in Nigeria, the revered monarch who had empowered a lot of youths in his community through the provision of employment in his pharmaceutical company located in his community, as well as payment of stipends to all old citizens aged 80 years and above in his community, warned the youths on dangers of staying idle and been lazy.

Saying that every youth must attach himself to one job or entrepreneurship, He admonishes them to embrace agricultural enendeavourslike farming, poultry, etc. admonishing them further that there are a lot of opportunities in Agricultural endeavours for youths to explore.

Said he, “I am warning every youth not to be idle, no matter the situation they find themselves because staying idle will lead them to evil things, let them now explore agriculture or learn an entrepreneurial endeavour, there are a lot of opportunities in agriculture, like farming, poultry etc or learning one handwork or the other.

Earlier in his address, during the event, Hon. Chris Obi Okafor the President of General Ogidi Youths while highlighting the cultural importance of the Nwafor Ogidi Festival to the people of the community noted that the Festival reminds them of vital principles of unity, tradition as well as communal spirit adding that the Festival in the town transcends mere festivity but stands as a powerful affirmation of their community shared identity, cherished values and collective history as a proud descendant of Ogidi town.

Stating that the incorporation of this year’s maiden youth carnival within the Nwafor Festival has heralded a colourful and unforgettable event which has brought pride, unity and a profound sense of belonging among the town youths, he noted that as the town youth president that the development has given him hope, progress and unyielding determination to assure that their future is bright adding that the event has now become an indispensable component of recognition of it as the pivotal role of coordinating youth engagement in preventing social unrest and upheaval.
Highlights of the occasion were the conferment of other distinguished awards on twelve eminent citizens of Ogidi as well as the bestowing of four posthumous awards on dead citizens of the town for their valuable contribution to the development of the community when they were alive, cultural dances, masquerade displays, sing songs etc.
