How to stop kidnapping in Nigeria revealed by Archbishop Ibezim

Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka diocese, Anglican Communion Bishop Alexander Chibuzo, PhD has advocated for conduct of local government area elections in the various local government areas in the country to restore sanity in the polity.

According to Archbishop Ibezim, Nigeria as a Nation should go back to local government structure to be close to the people.

Ibezim who stated this in Awka in His Christmas message said that bringing government close to the people will reduce the rate of kidnapping and other crimes that is dealing with Nigeria now.

He further stated that returning to the local government area system will give traditional rulers and Presidents General opportunity to do more jobs .

He said “Traditional rulers, Presidents General of various towns must play a role and this reminds me, That is why the local Government structure is very important in Nigeria You will find out for a long time when the local government structure collapsed in Nigeria, a lot started going wrong.

‘ For the government to be effective ,There must be a structure that will be close to the people .you may not know how system works. For president who is in Abuja to give order is not enough to solve the problem we have in Nigeria.

I advocate that Nigeria as a nation will also go back to Local government structure.

:There is need to strengthen the local government because they are very close to various towns and communities and even create more and do it until it becomes a corporate matter because you need to be close to the people for the security to be effective and that is the reason these things are happening all over the country today.

:There is need to revisit that, the local government area has been neglected and the early the better for the nation.

:When you didn’t stop something when it is small then it grows naturally. We don’t allow problems to overstretch before we start solving it. When we see a little problem begging to arise let us be focused. That is why I advocate for local government structure, state police.

‘Assuming the state has police in all the local government areas ,tell me why we are witnessing what we are witnessing today. People may be afraid of state police because they think if there is state police ,particular region might decide that they are not part of the nation. Such can not happen because we have been together since independent .If You see that something is not working then you adjust. The early we do the good thing better for all of us’, Archbishop Ibezim submitted.
