At least 300 youths in Enugu are to benefit from an entrepreneurship and modern innovative business skills training, the convener, Miss Faith-Victor Onyekwere, has said.

Onyekwere disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Saturday.
She said the training was being organised under the auspices of The Entrepreneurship Dinner Conference (TED).
She said that TED had concluded arrangements for the three months holistic training, which is meant to enable the participants to compete in the global and digitised world.

She expressed concern that youth unemployment rate had doubled across the globe, especially with the COVID-19 pandemic that threw a lot of people into the labour market.

“There are so many young talented people in Nigeria looking for white-collar jobs, forgetting how innovative they can be.
“Entrepreneurship is a journey of innovation. Innovation is fostered by a culture of imagination and self-expression, where everyone can contribute.
“Innovation is needed to be fused into the entrepreneurship prowess of young people to create sustainable economic growth on a national level.
“It is not enough to enhance what already exists, we ought to develop new solutions in the global market.
“Entrepreneurship provides a strong breeding ground for innovation.

“The self-directed nature of working as an entrepreneur opens up new ways of doing creative work that are not self-evident in larger companies or groups,” Onyekwere said.
She said the conference, billed to commence on Oct. 9 at the Enugu Sports Club, would feature key resource persons and youth mentors from different walks of life.
