FRSC begins action against rickety vehicles on Anambra roads

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has started a special operation on rickety vehicles on Anambra state roads.
The Anambra State Sector Commander of the corps, Mr Andrew Kumapayi, disclosed this while speaking to the press in his office at the command’s headquarter, Awka.
Mr Kumapayi said the command received a directive from Abuja headquarters of the command to ensure that rickety vehicles are cleared off the roads.
The Corps Commander asked owners of such vehicles to take their vehicles off the roads and ensure that they repair them to avoid falling victim of the FRSC clampdown on rickety vehicles.
He explained that such vehicles are not road worthy, constitute nuisance on the roads and many a times cause fatal crashes involving loss of lives and stressed that the command will not hesitate to impound such vehicles if seen on the roads.
On tricycle operators, Mr Kumapayi also said they would undergo continuous trainings to ensure they operate effectively and efficiently and commended the state government for its efforts towards the training package for the tricycle operators.
He emphasised that the law which is against tricycle operator’s plying the express roads is still in place.
