The Federal Government has expressed outrage over an incident where a Chinese expatriate allegedly ordered a security guard to shoot a Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) officer on duty at a Chinese-owned company.

In response, the government announced plans to automate its immigration watchlists—White, Grey, and Black—to swiftly blacklist foreigners posing security threats.

Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, condemned the attack, vowing to engage the Chinese Embassy and prevent future occurrences. He emphasized that no foreign company should undermine Nigerian authorities or endanger officials enforcing immigration laws.

Additionally, the government plans to implement an expatriate administration system by May 1, requiring all foreign workers to register within three months or face enforcement actions, including deportation.
