EXCLUSIVE: “How our house help murdered Chima”, Lady Dr Ifeyinwa Anolue, UNIZIK Post Graduate College Secretary

The Anglican community in Awka, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka and indeed Anambra State at large were thrown into mourning last month when a popular Choirmaster,Vocalist and a Technologist in the department of Psychology, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Mr Chima Anolue was murdered in cold blood by their house help Ifesinachi E. Omeanu, reports www.odogwublog.com exclusively.
After the murder, the media was awash with wrong information that late Chima slapped Ifesinachi for not washing plates and Ifesinachi used pestle in anger to knock life out of him. That wasn’t the true picture according to Chinenye Ugwueze, an eye witness in the house when the incident happened.
www.odogwublog.com reports further that it was a predetermined act by Ifesinachi to snuff life.out of Chima as he even strangled him on the way to the hospital.
Odogwumedia reports that Chinenye according to her in consultation with Ifesinachi cooked indomie for herself and Ifesinachi, washed everything before they went for their prayers. Chima wasn’t home as at the time. He went for Choir practice. When he returned, Chinenye opened the gate for him and Chima went straight to the Kitchen to bring out his own food, “Ofeakwu ” from the fridge to eat rice before his untimely death. The position he was lying showed he was about to light up the gas before his assailant knocked him off from behind. And still used knife to cut him after knocking him off with a big pestle.
Chima was the last born of Lady Dr Ifeyinwa Anolue, Secretary, College of Post Graduate Studies, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra State. She is the wife of Sir Tim Anolue. They have 3 boys and a girl. Chima was the last.

This, below was the true picture of what happened from Chima’s mother flanked by her husband, Sir Tim Anolue. Chinenye was still in trauma and couldn’t speak to us but her story was narrated by Lady Dr Anolue.
She spoke mainly in vernacular but our field anchor for OdogwuTv Ebuka Ogucha did justice to that.
BLOOD IN THE KITCHEN being the story Lady Dr Ifeyinwa Anolue told www.odogwublog.com at her palatial residence in Awka. In some circumstances, her story was paraphrased.
“…………….Miracle Omeanu was enrolled into Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka to read a degree in Geography and Metrology. Due to the nature and demand of his course, Miracle (our house help) comes home later than he used to because he goes for fieldwork. I and my darling husband called Miracle’s father and demanded for another house helper like Miracle. Miracle’s aunt is married in our family. That’s the relationship.
“Meanwhile, Miracle had lived with the family for fourteen years and is doing his clearance as a university graduate. He was absorbed into our family after our former house help got married.Miracle’s father came with Ifesinachi Emmanuel the day I and Daddy were leaving for the burial of a knight. After exchanging pleasantries, we asked Miracle to attend to them while we left. We were already on our way to the burial ceremony and they.were meant to sleep over. Ifesinachi was the nephew to Miracle’s father.Ifesinachi was later admitted into the family. It was discovered after proper assessment by us that he had poor academic background and was not sound academically, and so we decided to demote him from basic 6 down where his capacity suits.
Ifesinachi told us 2020 January when he was brought to us that he was 15 years old and had finished primary 6 and due for JS 1.
They gave him exams to determine that and he failed until primary 4 at Nwafor Orizu College of Education Demostration Primary school Awka even at his displeasure, but the decision was for his good. By the grace of God, he improved academically. He’s in primary 6 presently. In 2021, I traveled to Igboukwu with Daddy, during our stay , we got phone calls from a close relation, and Mr. Ethelberth Umeanozie who spotted Ifesinachi, were he was reported with an acomplice for breaking into construction sites stealing rods. They were apprehended by Igboukwu Vigilante group in the estate and wanted to set them ablaze. Because we were far we passed the news to Chima who went and rescued him.
“When we returned, Chima reported to us what happened and how Ifesinachi and his acomplice were caught stealing rods from people’s building project to sell. Ifesinachi when summoned by Daddy apologised and confessed he has been in the illicit trade. Daddy flogged him and threatened to send him packing. We concluded that he would leave as we can’t harbour a criminal. Ifesinachi’s parents were invited to take him home. They rather blackmailed us emotionally if he was our son whether we shall throw him away because of his involvement in crime and pleaded we spare him another chance particularly when the parents pointed out that he could be worse if he leaves our scrutiny. That touched us and we changed our mind. That was how Ifesinachi continued to stay with us
“Ifesinachi also pleaded, and asked that he should be forgiven. He further promised to be of good behaviour. He even wrote an undertaking to be of good conduct, that if he dares misbehave, he should be sent packing.This was after he stole ear pods belonging to a family member who visited prior to election in February,2023. To show remorse for his sin, he cried regrettably after which he wrote and submitted the undertaking. After considering letting him stay, Chima came back that evening and after listening to our decision suggested we should not stay any longer with Ifesinachi as his ears heard unbelievable things during the interrogation at the Igboukwu Estate security post Awka.
“He said he was capable of creating trouble for the family. The conversation was in our bedroom, but Ifesinachi later knew about Chima’s discussion with us maybe through Miracle probably when he was cautioning him to be of good behaviour unless he was ready to leave. He didn’t hide his unhappiness with Chima for suggesting to us to send him packing. We didn’t know he was still planning evil. We thought everything died off, as we were living together until recently in July when we traveled to Igboukwu, Aguata local government area for burial. We had wanted Ifesinachi to go with us, but he lied that he hadn’t finished his exams. For Chima he would have gone with us too, but that weekend was busy for him ranging from school activities to church programmes which he played key roles in, and wouldn’t want to leave any vacuum.
Ifesinachi lied he had exams from Monday till Friday. I wanted to provide him with fullscap sheets but , he said the exam was strictly fill in the gaps method.
“Luckily, a family member Chinenye; our second son’s wife’s cousin who needed a place to stay to run her clearance in school, since she was out of the hostel visited. Though, she sometimes visits, especially anytime Ifeanyi ( my second son and Chima’s immediate senior) come with his wife (Chinenye’s cousin.)
“Chinenye was asked to see to Ifesinachi’s behaviour and welfare especially as he would be sitting for exams. We instructed her to make sure she wakes on time for prayers at 5:30 am as Ifesinachi
was always reluctant and lazy to wake up by that time. Sometimes, he had to be pushed by Miracle before he could wake up for prayers.In fact, Chinenye was used by God to reveal what happened. She was instructed to take charge of the cooking till we return on Saturday. We had left on Thursday, but before then while we were stuffing our luggage into the trunk of the car, Chima walked out and jokingly asked why we were leaving with much loads even as we were just going to stay for just two days.
He wondered why women like traveling with plenty stuffs even during a short stay. I replied in similar manner by letting him know I wanted to use the opportunity to take somethings I will be needing when we travel back for August meeting home. Chima bid us safe journey and left, that was the last time we saw our son alive.
“On Friday night, after we had returned home from the funeral at Igboukwu. I called other of my children and had enough gist before calling Chinenye at last to check up on her and others at Awka. I asked her to lock up the doors and gates for security reasons. I asked after Chima, Chinenye told me that Chima was not back at that time, precisely around past 7:00pm. At past 8pm that night a call came from Chima’s immediate elder brother, Ifeanyi who is abroad, and asked if we can go back to Awka I asked him why, and even if we have a driver traveling to Awka by that time was risky. Ifeanyi said that there was a problem, that they have to go into serious prayers.. Ifeanyi lied that our tenant Frank called and told him that Chima fell and hit his head on the freezer in the kitchen, and was in a critical condition.
“I asked if he has been taken to the hospital, Ifeanyi said yes, that they took him to Life Hospital Awka , but Life rather directed them to Amaku , Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu Teaching hospital, Awka. She asked after Chinenye, Ifeanyi told her that Chinenye was at the hospital. Immediately, after the call, I called our Venerable and told him what happened and requested he rushes to the hospital with his prayer warriors to pray for Chima that he was in a critical condition, the Venerable agreed. My daughter called and told me they already formed a prayer net praying. I called my eldest son and asked him to go into prayers with his family. I called Chinenye and mandated her to tell me the truth if she doesn’t want me to start coming to Awka that hour. Chinenye narrated that after they spoke on phone, she left to do as instructed. So she left in search of Ifesinachi so they could pray. She looked for him in the room, he was not there, she checked the palour and kitchen, he was not in those two places. She later found Ifesinachi at the sit out in the compound, by then Chima had arrived.She asked him what he was still doing outside, Ifesinachi told her that it’s hot inside that he needed fresh air. But according to Chinenye it rained that very day. Chinenye asked him to go inside, that Mummy instructed that the doors and gates be locked. Ifesinachi asked her to go that he’s coming.Chinenye went upstairs. After a while, according to Chinenye she heard a loud sound repeatedly coming from the kitchen. She began to wonder what Ifesinachi was hiting. She hurried to the kitchen there was no electricity supply that hour but
immediately she was getting down the stairs there was restoration of electricity and she saw Chima in the pool of his blood in the kitchen. Chima was lying unconscious with his belly on the kitchen floor in his pool of blood.Chinenye screamed Ifesinachi’s name severally, he didn’t answer. She rushed out and banged on Frank’s door. Frank was at first reluctant to open up, until she told him what happened to Chima. .Frank and his two siblings followed Chinenye and found Chima lying in his pool of blood. They called and searched for Ifesinachi, asking him to come and help. But he was no where to be found. Later he was found at the backyard of the building. They asked him what happened, and why he was hiding there, without suspecting any foul play, he said that Chima fell and hit his head on the freezer. Frank rushed and brought his car key. They carried Chima into the car. Chinenye locked up everywhere, after which they all drove off to the hospital in Frank’s car.
“On their way to the hospital, Ifesinachi was caught by one of the boys strangling Chima who was struggling to live. The boy hit and ask him to leave him alone, others including Frank queried him on what his intentions were.
They went to Life hospital, he was rejected, they went to Amaku Awka General Hospiital now Teaching Hospital and the doctors and nurses immediately scrapped his hair and began to stitch his head. The doctor requested to know those in the flat where the incident happened.Chininye was apprehended, Frank told them that Chinenye was the one who alerted them. The doctor then, told them that he was rather hit with a hard weapon contrary to their belief that he fell. Vigilante groups were called, Chinenye and other were taken to a corner of the hospital. The doctor later came out. He applied psychology; he told them that Chima has finally woken up and he’s calling on Ifesinachi. Ifesinachi at that point confessed that he was the one that hit him with the pestle.When he was asked his reason for hitting Chima, Ifesinachi said Chima asked him who left the dirty plate in the sink, he said he did. That was a lie. My son ,Chima cannot ask Ifesinachi to boil rice for him. He has never boiled rice for the family or Chima? And he was claiming he fought Chima. Ifesinachi cannot fight Chima. And my son has never touched any of our househelps. Ifesinachi can’t stand Chima. Miracle has lived with us for years without anyone touching him. We live like a family, no discrimination in any guise. Miracle is the only person that can assist Chima. Chima died without eating.
I saw him at the police station and confronted him. He now told me the truth after lying initially. He admitted he murdered my son for no reason that it was Satan that took over him. He couldn’t explain why he killed my son in cold blood. Thank God for positioning Chinenye as an eye witness.
Chinenye said, she washed all the plates after they finished eating. You can imagine the lies Ifesinachi told against Chima. He said Chima asked him why he didn’t wash the plate, he rather kept mute the several times he asked, Chima got angry and slapped him. According to Ifesinachi, he told him that no one slaps him, that he has problem in his ear. As Chima turned to walk into the dining Ifesinachi hit him with pestle. These were all lies because Ifesinachi can’t stand Chima. He layed ambush and struck from behind while Chima was in the kitchen.
“On getting to Awka, instead of driving to the hospital my husband asked me to drive straight home. As we arrived home, I was asked not to go in but I was pressed, so I went in to ease myself, on my way out I sighted the kitchen and saw the trail of pool of blood. I managed to walk into the compound, straight to my husband. And crowd were everywhere in our compound including Igboukwu people, Unizik workers , Church of Pentecost and well wishers. I announced to Daddy that Chima was no more. We later went to the hospital, we found lots of people. We were immediately rushed by some relations. It was there that Reverend broke the news to us after much dribbling. It was confirmation of the feeling I got at the house. The shock was unbearable and we passed out. We were resuscitated and we later left the hospital for home.
” I am shocked Ifesinachi could be lying against Chima. Chima had never touched him to talk of slapping him. He doesn’t cook for Chima. Chima cooks his food himself and if he has no time , Miracle helps out. He barely sends Ifesinachi out for anything edible unless to buy soap and drinks. Even, the Ofeakwu he wanted to eat rice with was still in the kitchen before he was Waylaid and killed with pestle.
“God brought Chinenye to reveal what happened and let me inform you that we gave strict instructions to our children to never lay their hands on any of our house helps, and they never did. Ifesinachi just murdered our son in cold blood and the worst he didn’t allow him to eat. He died on an empty stomach. God is the ultimate judge and I have handed him over to judge. If Jesus Christ died young, we can’t question God on why our son died this way. He served God with his talent and time. I am sure he is at peace with God………”
