Esimone honoured for outstanding leadership excellence
Vice-Chancellor, of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) Prof. Charles Esimone, has been bestowed and honoured for illustrative leadership qualities by the university community.
The decoration took place during the weekend as part of activities and public lecture to commemorate the fourth year anniversary celebration of the vice chancellor in office held at the ASUU NAU Secretariat, UNIZIK, Awka.
Speaking during the decoration, a member of the University Governing Council, Prof. Harry Obi Nwosu recognised the exemplary leadership qualities of the Vice Chancellor and his efforts to reposition UNIZIK in line with global best practices in the last four years.
Testifying on the leadership prowess of the Vice Chancellor, he pointed out that Prof. Esimone being an all-round leader knew the essence of mental health in leadership hence the reason he created a Centre that is interested in ensuring the mental health of both the staff and students of the university is well-taken care and receives the right attention.
He said Nigeria as a nation cannot do well except without the availability of a mental status that is commensurate to understanding the problems of today and looking into the future.
Responding, Prof. Esimone stated that the event of the celebration could not have been better without the support of members of staff of the institution who have keyed into his vision ‘Project 200’.Vision.
He described the job of Vice Chancellor as a very broad one and praised members of the 9th Governing Council of the University for assisting him to succeed.
Prof. Esimone opined that ‘Project 200’ is founded on God’s promises while urging all to put hands together, work in tandem towards taking Nnamdi Azikiwe University to greater heights.
