The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), has confirmed the apprehension of two vandal suspects who specialise in vandalising and stealing electrical installations within communities in Anambra and Abia states.

The Head, Corporate Communications of EEDC, Mr Emeka Ezeh, who confirmed the development in Enugu on Friday, commended the efforts of various vigilante groups in communities within the South-East.

Ezeh said that there were clear indications that the efforts being made by the EEDC in curbing activities of vandals across its network through the effective engagement of its stakeholders, “is yielding the desired result”.

According to him, the call for residents to ensure that activities of vandals are reduced drastically is yielding positive results, as it is evident that most communities are now more vigilant in protecting the electricity installations within their domain.

“Similarly, on Monday, Jan. 16, 2023, at Onuiyangan Community in Bende Local Government Area of Abia, men of Bende vigilante group arrested a vandal suspect, identified as Chinaemerem Azubuike, while vandalising aluminum conductors belonging to EEDC,” he said.
