Devaju: Lai Cries As World Powers Deny FG Weapons To Fight Insurgency.

The federal government has indicted some world powers as being responsible for its inability to defeat terrorism. The minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, said that some developed nations have refused to help the government with weapons to defeats the insurgents. Mohammed added that the world powers are relying on unsubstantiated argument as their basis for refusal

The federal government has claimed that some world powers have refused to assist Nigeria with vital platforms and weapons in its anti-terrorism battle.

This claim was made by the minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in Abuja on Thursday, August 12, The News Agency of Nigerian (NAN) reports.

Mohammed said that some of these developed nations are relying on what he called unsubstantiated arguments to deny the country needed support to defeat insurgency.

The minister said: “I want to use this opportunity to say that the international community can help us better than they are doing right now. To fight terrorists we need platforms and weapons.

“When the international community is weighed by unsubstantiated arguments to deny the country of vital platforms and weapons to fight insecurity, you cannot turn round to accuse the country of not fighting terrorism.”

He even mentioned that for over two years, certain world powers have refused to supply the nation with arms and weapons after receiving payment for them from the Nigerian government.

The minister said: “For more than two to three years now, we have paid for certain vital weapons that they have not released to us and they even refused to give us spare parts.

Meanwhile, ODOGWU MEDIA reported that The Defence Headquarters had disagreed with the governor of Borno state, Babagana Zulum , over the attack on the governor’s convoy on Wednesday, July 29.

Governor Zulum had accused the soldiers of being responsible for the attack on his convoy in Baga, a town in Kukawa local government area of the state. The Borno state governor said what happened to him was complete Sabotage from military

“It is a complete sabotage. I cannot end my interview without clearly stating what happened yesterday. As far as I am concerned, there was no Boko Haram yesterday (Wednesday). It was a serious shooting by the Nigerian armed forces while ‘residing’ in Baga. The situation is very embarrassing,” he said.
