Declare State of Emergency on roads, illegal revenue collection – Market leaders urge Soludo

Market leaders in Anambra State have urged the Governor elect, Prof Charles Soludo to declare State of Emergency on roads saying that the deplorable condition of roads in the state constitute accidents, road gridlock thereby frustrating traders and customers alike as goods are conveyed from and into the markets.
They also lamented on the inhuman treatment suffered by motorists and traders in the hands of rouges who destroy lives, vehicles and goods belonging to traders and customers in the guise of collecting revenue unbehalf of government agencies.
In their separate speeches, Leaders of Building Materials International Market (BMIM), Ogidi, Ogbaru Plastic market, Odekpe plastic market, Almalgamated Timber Dealers Association (ATDA),Greenseed Market, Ogboafere International market, Bakery International market Ogidi, Gauis market Owerri road, Obosi and others after congratulating the governor-elect maintained that Soludo’s election was the will of the masses saying that he was the most qualified among the governorship aspirants.
According to Chief Jude Nwankwo (Ochendo) of BMIM, Ogidi, “People want good roads. Soludo told us before the election that he will declare State of Emergency on Anambra roads. Other things are important but let him start with roads. We constructed this road from BMIM to High court, Ogidi let State government cover it with tar, it will decongest this road gridlock experienced daily at BMIM/Site junction. We have high hopes that Anambra will soon become Dubai/Taiwan of Africa within the next four years”.
At Ogbaru Plastic market, Chief Henry Akpotuo(Egbejiejeogu) states:”Traders should be part of governance, educational qualifications is not the only parameter to wisdom. Anambra Government should look into our roads, meet their Delta State counterpart on possible solutions to tackle Onitsha bridgehead gridlock. Also, the first people that our customers encounter as you enter Anambra from the Bridgehead are touts that hounds motorists with uncountable tickets/emblems which has led to accidents and loss of lives.
