Bishop of Egbema/Ohaji Diocese, the Rt Rev Dr Chidi Oparaojiaku, told christians to carry out their individual and collective responsibilities well because they would someday give account of their words and actions.
Bishop Oparaojiaku stated this during his sermon on Sunday church service to cap the four-day Synod of the Diocese on the Niger.
He explained that God is always "looking for those who are faithful and not necessarily the successful", pleading that believers should not embarrass God with their successes, but rather for them to be faithful.
While reminding christians that they would not escape giving account of their stewardship, he said that stewardship could be any assignment in the church, in the home, place of work and in the community.
The bishop also explained that formal and informal empty promises would equally be accounted for because, according to him, "Steward, positive or negative must certainly be accounted for".
Bishop Oparaojiaku emphasized the need for believers to always live above board in everything they did saying that it was only those who he said did the will of God would enter the kingdom of God.
"Therefore, you must be faithful, you cannot avoid to be", he stressed.
He consequently pleaded with christians not to allow the quality of their christian stewardship decline below their dignity.
The Synod Sunday service featured cutting of the event's cake by the host Bishop, the Rt Rev Dr Owen in company of his wife, Dr Nonyelum Nwokolo, more than six bishops, traditional rulers, government representatives among other dignitaries.
