Birthday Gift: Uche Ogbuagu Bags SWAN Meritorious Award Of Excellence

In spite of his contributions in grassroot sports development in Imo State and Nigeria at large, Hon. Uche Ogbuagu has bagged Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Meritorious award of Excellence as a prestigious gift for his 48th birthday.
Mr Ihianyi Emesonwu , the Imo State Chairman of SWAN who led members of the organization over the weekend to Amaiyi-Akabo the ancestral home of Ogbuagu who’s representing Ikeduru State Constituency in Imo State House of Assembly and presented the award as the recipient was enjoying the euphoria of his birthday celebration slated for this Monday.
Emesonwu who commended the lawmaker who is also the House Majority Leader for his exploits in the State Assembly and philanthropic gestures to his constituents noted that he merited the award based on his consistency in the annual sponsorship of football competition among the communities within his Constituency.
He also applauded the recipient for single handedly building an ultra modern Stadium complex at Iho for his constituents and enjoined him not to relent.
The Chairman assured him of the willingness of the association to partner with him in all his efforts in uplifting sports through talents hunt noting the Association resolve of having him as a Patron and his name to be engraved in their Sports Hall of Fame.
Responding, Ogbuagu expressed gratitude to members of the association for finding him worthy for such a Meritorious award from a credible age-long professional body noting the award as one of the best gifts of his 48th birthday.
The Sports Philanthropist noted that he has undying passion for talents hunt especially among the rural dwellers informing that the stadium project was one of his campaign promises and thanked God for its fulfilment.
He lamented on the challenges been experienced due to the COVID-19 pandemic while assuring of hope for better years ahead.
The law maker who is a multi talented Comedian Compere accepted the Patronship and assured of his maximum support to the association and challenged the members of thinking ways of lifting the association to a higher level saying that his name is synanimous with excellence and success.
Ogbuagu reaffirmed his commitment to streamline the association relationship with the state government while soliciting their support and cooperation to the Shared Prosperity mantra administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma.
