Baptist President Urges Tinubu to Convene Security Summit with Ex-Leaders

President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Rev. Israel Akanji, has called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently convene a national security conference involving former Presidents, Heads of State, and current security chiefs to address Nigeria’s worsening insecurity.
Speaking ahead of the church’s 112th annual session and 175th anniversary celebration, Akanji decried the rising cases of killings, kidnappings, and terror attacks, particularly in Plateau, Benue, Katsina, and Borno states.
He reiterated support for state police and urged the judiciary and police to accelerate prosecution of suspects, stressing that Nigeria can no longer afford to treat insecurity with lip service.
Akanji also commended Tinubu’s economic efforts but urged further action to ease hardship and attract more investment.
