ASUU -NAU Protests As Substantial Vice Chancellor Emerges

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra State, has stage a peaceful protest to stopped the selection of the new Vice Chancellor of the Institution
It was gathered that the protest was as a result of unresolved crisis in the institution
Some of the play cards reads ASUU-NAU is against Vc selection going on in a hotel, ASUU NAU want due process to be followed,ASUU NAU No imposition of Vice chancellor , Stop this impunity, Tinubu call Greg to oder among others .
Briefing the media , The Academic Staff union of Universities ASUU) of Nnamdi Azikiwe University awka led by the chairman of the union Prof. Kingsley Ikechukwu Ubaorji said the process of electing the new vice chancellor of the institution as rape of democracy,ilegal and dangerous because the governing council are not following the guideline.
According to Ubaorji who condemned the process said ” It is illegal and it is wrong for one man to be dictating what will happen in the university system where we train the youth
He further accuses Governing council of not living a level playing ground.
“For a new Vice chancellor to be appointed in a university ,the governing council will properly constitutes , sit and deliberate on the condition or criteria because no one council member is superior to the other .
The external council member can not be superior to the internal member and this is part of the struggles of ASUU .Why can’t they follow the guidelines?
” It is illegal and it is wrong for one man to be dictating what will happen in the university system where we train the youth now they have choose to do the interview in a hotel outside university premises .
“It is important to known that the moment the university system is discredited we have got wrong in this nation.
“ASUU, has consistent fighting for the integrity of the university system.If you watch the struggle of the union we don’t talk about salary ,This youths need to be in conducive environment
“” I have been outside the country and seen what university is ought to be.it is conducive environment that leads to quality leaning.
“Am calling on the president Ahmade Tinubu to come to our aide
What is happening here is rape of democracy . Government should come and help us because if they succed here they will scatter this country
” It is dangerous to have someone that does not have experience as vice chancellor.
Chairman appeal for a due process to be followed to avoid break down of law and order in the University
How ever , As the protest was going on Benard Ifeanyi Odoh was announced as the 7th substantial vice chancellor of the institution.by Governing council led by Greg Mbadiwe .
